Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Mechatronics Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of Mechatronics Engineers and Mechanical Engineers dedicated to designing, developing, Basic qualifications: - Experience in DFx (cost, test, manufacturing) - Experience with the project management of technical projects - Bachelor's degree in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field - 10 years or more of experience in mechanical design with at least 3+ years of management experience - Experience in the design of rotary actuation and related components (BLDC motors, bearings, grease, gears, etc) - Familiar with industry standard CAD & FEA design tools and industry trends - Ability to manage process driven development mentality while also balancing time to market - Commitment to rigorous testing & validation practices - Strong organizational and planning skills - Desire to work in a fast-paced environment - Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills - Experience in engineering team management across mechanical and/or mechatronics disciplines - Extensive system design experience interfacing with a wide array of electromechanical subsystems and associated debugging experience - SolidWorks or similar CAD experience, understanding of best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, and complex configuration management - Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures - Hands-on experience crafting proof-of-concept models and prototypes - Thorough understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts in hardware - development and ability to apply them to product design - Experience with full product lifecycle and proficiency at completing tasks to meet - milestones - Experience evaluating design, performance, and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems Preferred: - Experience developing products for large volume production - Experience managing teams of 8+ engineers - Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent - Experience in robotic development and electromechanical system integration - Experience in actuation, motor development, and fundamentals of actuator design including gear train, linkage, and transmission systems - Experience with sensor selection, integration, and calibration in robotic systems - Familiarity with machine vision hardware including camera modules, compute, platforms, and optical system integration - Experience designing, developing, and certifying safety-rated systems - Experience with Design for Reliability including DFMEA, PFMEA, and reliability testing methodologies - Experience designing and debugging tooled components (cast, injection mold, forge, stamp) - Experience with thermal management and heat dissipation design for electromechanical systems - Experience in electronics packaging including PCBA mechanical design, incorporation of sensors, and PCBA enclosures that comply with IEC IP standards - Understanding of control systems fundamentals including servo tuning, PID control, and motion profiling - Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Finite Element Analysis tools - Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5 - Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis, simulation, and rapid prototyping - Experience with rapid prototyping methods including 3D printing and CNC machining - Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and ECOs - Experience leading product enhancements that improve performance of existing products - Strong organizational skills and the ability to lead and collaborate across cross-functional teams - Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
