Utilities Technical Operator Location: Macclesfield Competitive salary and benefits Working pattern: 36 hours per week – 24-hour pattern over 7 days Monday - Sunday The opportunity: Are you interested in helping us keep our crucial utilities and engineering systems running safely and efficiently? As Utilities Technical Operators, we manage, coordinate and support the maintenance of crucial infrastructure and distribution systems. You will work with associates and external partners to maintain equipment performance. They will respond to issues and ensure work is completed safely and meets quality and regulatory requirements. This is a varied, hands-on role where you can apply your technical knowledge, contribute ideas and help improve the reliability of systems that support the wider site. What you’ll do: You will: Operate, supervise and carry out basic maintenance on utilities equipment and systems. Complete planned maintenance, compliance testing and safety checks. Respond to equipment breakdowns and help restore services promptly. Identify and communicate equipment, performance or compliance concerns. Maintain accurate equipment documentation and handle SAP notifications. Raise Quality Notifications when required. Issue and follow Safe Systems of Work for colleagues and contractors. Collect and record engineering data to support equipment performance. Use continuous improvement tools to identify trends and reduce recurring issues. Contribute to engineering improvement projects and safety initiatives. Maintain information relating to Bills of Materials and critical spares. Support and mentor less-experienced colleagues and new starters. Complete required Safety, Health and Environment and Good Manufacturing Practice training. Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Engineering, maintenance teams, site customers and external contractors. Systems you will could support with will include: Compressed air Steam and condensate Water systems Control and instrumentation High-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution Emergency backup systems Fire-alarm and fire-protection systems Gas-alarm systems Regulatory inspections Essential experience and skills: We’re looking for someone who has: Knowledge of engineering principles. Technical knowledge or experience within utilities, plant or engineering operations. Knowledge of relevant safety, environmental and GxP requirements. Proficiency in observing procedures and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Good organisational skills and attention to detail. Clear written and verbal communication skills. The ability to coordinate priorities and complete work to agreed timelines. The confidence to work independently and collaboratively. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems. Good English-language skills and secondary-level education. Desirable experience: It would be useful, but not essential, if you have: Experience within a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment. Experience using systems such as SAP or Coupa. Knowledge of continuous improvement or maintenance tools, such as TPM, RCM, RCA or CBM. Project-planning or coordination experience. An understanding of supply-chain processes. Experience with project or change-management approaches. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as presentation software.
