Tech Field Engineer - Cairns

What success looks like in this role: Provides onsite technical support and hardware repair services across Cairns and surrounding areas. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs laptops, desktops, and related IT hardware. Replaces hardware components including motherboards, screens, keyboards, batteries, SSDs, memory, and other field-replaceable parts. Performs hardware diagnostics, BIOS and firmware updates, system testing, and validation activities. Manages assigned service calls, parts inventory, schedules, and travel requirements efficiently. Completes service documentation accurately and within required timeframes. Works independently while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and professionalism. Communicates effectively with customers, service delivery teams, and technical support groups. Follows customer-specific processes, safety requirements, and service level commitments. Meets SLA targets while delivering a positive customer experience. You will be successful in this role if you have: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification. Technical certification, Associate Degree, or relevant vocational training preferred. 1-2 years of experience in computer hardware repair, field services, desktop support, or technical support environments. Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills across laptop and desktop hardware. Experience installing and replacing hardware components such as motherboards, screens, batteries, keyboards, SSDs, and memory modules. Good understanding of Windows operating systems and desktop computing environments. Experience working with Dell, Lenovo, or other major OEM hardware platforms is highly desirable. Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple onsite service requests. Current Australian Driver's Licence and willingness to travel throughout the Cairns region. OEM or manufacturer certifications are advantageous.
