As a Lead Software Engineer , your responsibilities will include: Envision and build new components/frameworks in distributed filesystems in an ever-growing and evolving market technology to provide scale and efficiency Design and develop high-quality, production-ready code used by millions of users of our cloud platform Build efficient components/algorithms on a microservice multi-tenant SaaS cloud distributed filesystem environment Code review, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance to the team Job Duties Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs Update software or enhance existing software capabilities Lead the team with the product owner role in collecting requirements, defining the roadmap, driving partners, and unblocking the team in execution Contribute to the success of the scrum team through code reviews, deployment process automation, documentation, refinement, planning, and retros Lead, collaborate, communicate, and mentor others on the team and in the company Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver a roadmap that meets shared business goals Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovations that improve system scalability, robustness, and availability Troubleshoot issues with services the team develops and owns Participate in the team's on-call rotation to keep services operational and highly available Create, maintain, and share technical documentation used by engineers and other team members Telecommuting is an option; some travel to Salesforce offices may be required Required Skills 10+ years of software development experience with mastery in systems design and programming languages/platforms Deep knowledge of designing distributed filesystems in both on-prem & cloud Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming and scripting languages: Java, Python ; strong SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Trino) Experience developing SaaS products over public cloud infrastructure — AWS / Azure / GCP Proven experience designing and developing distributed systems at scale — proficiency in queues, locks, scheduling, event-driven architecture, and workload distribution Strong understanding of software development best practices with demonstrated leadership skills Preferred Skills Design patterns & experience with Big Data / ML and S3 Hands-on experience with streaming technologies like Kafka Experience with Elasticsearch Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker Experience working in a high-paced, rapidly growing multinational organization Leadership Expectations Demonstrate high proficiency in engineering best practices — scalability, security, fault tolerance, concurrency, and database modeling — to consistently ensure high-quality software delivery Lead by example, guiding the team in adopting these standards while effectively navigating risks and making strategic technical trade-offs Leverage deep domain expertise to anchor the team and personally drive the most complex and challenging deliverables Maintain a holistic, systems-level vision of how the team's work integrates into the broader organizational architecture Drive comprehensive technical design specifications and robust test plans to guide successful team execution Unleash Your Potential When you join Salesforce, you’ll be limitless in all areas of your life.
