Principal Engineer PTC is seeking a Principal Engineer with deep expertise in Core Java to drive the architecture, design, and technical strategy of enterprise applications, setting engineering standards and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and maintainable software across the organization. Demonstrates deep ownership, sets the bar for clean and testable code, drives cross-team architectural decisions, mentors senior engineers, and brings a customer-first mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and innovation. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY Define and drive the architecture, design, and technical roadmap for complex, scalable Java applications. Set coding standards and best practices; write clean, reusable, high-impact code. Lead architectural reviews, high-stakes technical discussions, and cross-team design decisions. Mentor and coach senior engineers and tech leads, elevating engineering capability across the organization. Partner with cross-functional and leadership teams to align technical strategy with business goals in an Agile environment. Proactively identify and resolve systemic performance, reliability, and scalability challenges while documenting architectural decisions. MUST HAVE Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent. 8–10+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development. Deep expertise in Core Java, OOP, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns. Extensive experience in enterprise-scale system design, distributed architecture, and technical strategy. Demonstrated track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical decision-making across teams. Strong experience with JUnit, Git, REST APIs, and modern software engineering practices. Exceptional analytical, debugging, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
