Job Title Senior Web Accessibility Engineer Staff Web Engineer - Web Platform Clover is looking for a Staff Web Engineer with deep expertise in front end architecture to join our Web Platform team. This team’s primary objective is to provide Clover web engineers with exceptional development experience across our web platforms while supporting the large-scale expansion of our engineering teams. With hundreds of engineers building web experiences across 4 continents, Clover’s patterns and tooling for web development are critical to its ability to effectively deliver business value to our customers. As a member of the Web Platform Team focusing on App Infrastructure, you will own the design, implementation, support and improvement of crucial foundational libraries, architectural patterns and self-service tools leveraged actively by web engineers across the company. Responsibilities of this Role: Architecture & System Design: Design end-to-end web architectures, micro-frontends, API integrations, and server-side rendering (SSR) implementations optimized for high traffic, low latency, and high availability. Technical Strategy & Roadmap: Partner with product management and business leaders to define long-term technical direction, evaluate emerging technologies, and guide multi-quarter roadmaps. Quality & Engineering Standards: Establish coding standards, testing frameworks, CI/CD practices, continuous performance monitoring, and web accessibility (WCAG) guidelines across the organization. Mentorship & Culture: Provide technical leadership and sponsorship for senior, mid-level, and junior engineers. Lead design and code reviews to elevate team technical capabilities. High-Impact Execution: Hands-on development of core platforms, critical SDKs, complex web interfaces, and high-risk technical migrations. Basic Qualifications 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a heavy focus on web platforms, web architecture, and full-stack runtime systems. Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent practical technical education. Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale web applications, web infrastructure, or shared developer platform tools. Hands-on background delivering web UIs as a feature developer alongside deep knowledge of browser execution models, JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems, and HTML/CSS standards. Strong proficiency with version control and automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, or similar). Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills with a track record of cross-functional collaboration. Preferred Technical Qualifications: Deep knowledge of React / Webpack / modern tools Experience with Typescript Writes clean code, uses modern JS syntax. Cares about code quality Experience with localization Experience with javascript test frameworks - jest etc. Experience writing scripts, tools, etc Very comfortable in Node.js Some DevOps experience / Cloud Platform experience AWS / GCP Experience with npm packages, versioning Understanding of web performance Strong communication skills - written and verbal Preferred Qualities: Creative and innovative mentality Willingness to put ideas forward Open mindedness Empathy for developers and teammates Desire for excellence Bonus Points: Enjoys a light-hearted work environment Talented with meme-based slack communication Experience with GCP, terraform, puppet Experience with Micro Front-end architecture Experience with javascript Module Federation Salary Range $160,000.00 - $240,000.00 These pay ranges apply to employees in Sunnyvale, California.
