Senior Quantitative Researcher, Systematic Equity, Vice President Company: State Street Investment Management Location: London, UK Who We Are Looking For This role is for a Senior Quantitative Researcher within the Systematic Equity team. The role is based in London and reports to the Lead Research Supervisor for Systematic Equity. The Systematic Equity team manages a broad range of quantitative equity strategies across global markets and active risk profiles. We have a long history of delivering innovative, risk controlled investment solutions and are looking for someone who can help shape the next stage of our research platform. The successful candidate will combine strong quantitative and technical skills with a deep understanding of investing. They will work closely with portfolio managers and researchers to develop new investment ideas, improve existing models, and apply advances in AI and data science to real investment problems. What You Will Be Responsible For Generate ideas for investment process innovation and improvements, with a focus on alpha generation and portfolio construction. Lead and execute research projects, from idea generation and testing through implementation and performance evaluation. Use machine learning and AI to enhance the research process and investment outcomes, spanning data analysis, alpha generation, portfolio construction, and risk management. Work closely with portfolio managers to improve existing strategies and develop new investment capabilities. Contribute to maintaining and evolving our research and production platform. Present research findings clearly and effectively to portfolio managers, researchers, senior management, clients, and prospects. Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative and high performing research culture. Education & Preferred Qualifications PhD strongly preferred in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline. Demonstrated experience in quantitative research and systematic investing. Deep knowledge of quantitative equity investing, including alpha research, factor modelling, portfolio construction, and risk management. Strong understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence, with hands on experience applying these techniques to quantitative models Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage a range of AI tools in research activities Excellent programming skills in Python and/or SQL. Experience with distributed computing and large scale data processing is a plus. Proven ability to lead independent research and translate research findings into practical investment applications. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with portfolio managers, researchers, and technology teams.
