About IPSD Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary The Industrial Power Systems Division has an exciting opportunity for a Repair Technician II position in Seguin, TX. As a Repair Technician, you will perform repairs on Caterpillar engines, assist in determining a cause area, and report information to the appropriate areas. Technicians will at times perform non-routine and specialized tests on certain applications in Seguin, Texas. What you will do: Perform repairs on Caterpillar and Perkins engines to eliminate quality and material defects Read common test data and diagnose hot test engine failures Record information related to repairs and defects and communicate findings Respond to and resolve service calls within the plant Perform strip back and investigative engine teardowns as directed Report defects and issues to supervisors, management, and project teams Identify process improvement opportunities Perform audits to ensure materials, processes, and tools conform to quality standards Follow standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions Inspect Strip Back material for conformance and process flow material Perform all other duties as assigned Maintain 5S of the Hot Test Repair area Perform rework of supplier parts when prompted Empty scrap bins into outside scrap containers Utilize prints and 1E specs to determine failures What you will have: Minimum of 3 years of experience working on diesel engines and/or generator, or mechanical repair Intermediate experience with tools and equipment used for engine repair such as wrenches, torque tools, and diagnostic equipment Intermediate understanding of engine components such as pistons, cooling systems, and an ability to perform basic repairs like oil changes and filter replacements Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications What would make you a top candidate: Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Applications (basic skills/knowledge - capable of functioning independently) Minimum of 3 years in an industrial manufacturing industry or operations environment Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written Extensive knowledge of hand, power tools and diagnostic equipment Extensive knowledge of engine components and assembly Ability to read, print, 1espec and 3Dmodels to diagnose engine defects Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time Ability to perform repetitive operations Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
