QA Back-End Tester (Linux/Unix)

As a QA Back-End Tester (Linux/Unix) reporting to Sr. Manager – Quality Assurance, you'll play a critical role in safeguarding the quality and reliability of Nasdaq's Trade Surveillance platform — a globally deployed compliance solution trusted by marketplaces, regulators, and market participants worldwide. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and execute end-to-end test strategies that ensure software meets defined quality standards and client requirements. Analyze system requirements and business processes to identify testing scope, risks, and mitigation approaches. Drive defect resolution by performing root cause analysis, raising issues, and tracking them through to completion. Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing frameworks, documentation, and release engineering processes. Collaborate with global teams to support integration, regression, and system testing across product releases. Required Qualifications 6–8 years of experience in server-side or back-end software testing, with strong proficiency in Unix/Linux command-line environments. Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex test strategies independently, from environment setup through to completion. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, methodical approach. Clear communicator with the ability to present testing strategies and challenge ambiguous requirements confidently. Experience working with defect tracking and automation tools in an agile or continuous delivery environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience testing applications hosted in cloud environments. Background in compliance, surveillance, or regulated financial services. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. This position will be located in Sydney, Australia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 2 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
