Principal Engineer (AI-Based Tooling Platform)

Job Requisition ID # 25WD94110 Position Overview Autodesk is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation AI-powered tools and platform for Cloud and Desktop applications. In this role, you will architect and build the services that power intelligent Automation and engineering productivity solutions. You will define the technical direction for AI-enabled platform capabilities, leveraging modern AI technologies and AI frameworks to improve software quality, developer productivity, and engineering efficiency. Responsibilities Design and architect services powering AI-based Tools and platforms. Build intelligent platform capabilities that enhance software quality, engineering productivity, and developer workflows. Design and integrate AI-powered workflows using Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, and modern AI frameworks. Develop services that seamlessly integrate with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and cloud platforms. Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to define technical roadmaps and platform strategy. Drive engineering excellence through reusable platform components, automation, and modern software engineering practices. Mentor engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and provide technical leadership across multiple teams. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in software engineering tooling and developing solution for the organisatiom Proficiency in Python and one or more modern programming languages such as TypeScript or JavaScript. Experience building services, Automation frameworks, and cloud-native applications. Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and modern CI/CD practices. Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience building AI-powered engineering productivity platforms Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents, and AI orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar technologies. Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), prompt engineering, vector databases, and AI system design. Experience designing AI-enabled services and integrating AI capabilities into quality engineering workflows. Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, or similar platforms. Understanding of AI observability, evaluation, governance, and responsible AI practices.
