Lead Business Process Engineer (Process Automation) - Officer

Who we are looking for We are seeking a hands-on process and knowledge engineer to join Alpha Intelligence, State Street’s AI & Automation Center of Excellence for Alpha Implementations. You will help transform complex processes end to end — understanding how work is done today, designing simpler future-state processes, and enabling automation and AI solutions that improve speed, control and client outcomes. The ideal candidate is analytical, structured and delivery-focused, comfortable working directly with subject-matter experts, and able to own a workstream of process discovery and documentation end to end with limited supervision. About the team — Alpha Intelligence Alpha Intelligence is State Street’s AI & Automation Center of Excellence for Alpha Implementations — the team rewiring how the industry’s first front-to-back platform gets delivered. We turn the deep expertise locked inside our implementation teams into engineered processes, governed knowledge and intelligent agents that cut manual effort, compress client go-live timelines and make every implementation faster and more predictable than the last. We operate as one global team across the US, UK, Europe, India and APAC, combining process engineering, automation delivery, AI platform engineering and responsible-AI governance under a single roof. We work on real client implementations, not pilots that sit on a shelf — what we build is adopted, measured and scaled. If you want to shape how AI is applied to one of the most complex delivery landscapes in financial services, this is the team to do it in. What you will be responsible for Conduct process discovery through interviews, shadowing, walkthroughs and system observation with implementation and operations subject-matter experts. Own end-to-end process transformation for assigned workstreams, from discovery and future-state design through implementation, adoption and continuous improvement. Map and assess current-state processes, including handoffs, systems, data, controls and exceptions, to identify root causes, effort, risk and friction. Design simpler, standardized future-state processes that improve controls and use the right mix of people, process, data, automation and AI. Structure and tag content for search, RAG and agent use, ensuring knowledge assets are discoverable, accurate and maintainable. Validate process and knowledge assets with subject-matter experts, manage signoffs and maintain version control. Prioritize redesign, automation and AI opportunities, and define the expected benefits and success measures. Turn approved future-state designs into clear requirements and implementation plans, working with automation, AI, technology, operations and change teams. Support rollout and adoption, track results, and use feedback to improve the process over time. Maintain accurate status, progress and delivery reporting for your assigned workstream, escalating risks and blockers early. Coordinate across regional teams and time zones to enable seamless handoffs and effective dependency management. Experience and capabilities that will help you succeed 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in business process analysis, process documentation, operations, transformation or automation delivery within financial services. Working knowledge of investment management or capital markets operations across front, middle and back office and the trade lifecycle. Hands-on experience with process mapping and documentation methods and tools, exposure to BPMN, Visio, UiPath Task Capture, ARIS or comparable platforms is beneficial. Familiarity with automation platforms such as UiPath and an understanding of what makes a process automatable. Good understanding of AI and GenAI concepts, including how structured knowledge and content quality drive RAG and agent performance. Strong analytical and documentation skills, with proficiency in relevant collaboration, data and presentation tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SQL, Excel or PowerPoint; equivalent tools and transferable experience are welcome. Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver milestones in a fast-moving programme environment. Ability to collaborate effectively with regional teams, occasional participation outside local working hours may be required for planned handoffs or critical discussions. Education & Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Finance, Management or Information Systems, or equivalent relevant professional experience. Process excellence or automation certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, BPM, UiPath) are an advantage. Interested but do not meet every qualification?
