Your team The US Equities team seeks to deliver long-term investment outperformance through rigorous fundamental research, differentiated insights, and disciplined portfolio construction. The team develops high-conviction investment views across the Financials sector and partners closely with Portfolio Managers to identify attractive investment opportunities and manage portfolio risk. Team members are encouraged to challenge conventional thinking, engage in evidence-based investment debate, and contribute to a high-performance culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The Vice President, Financials Equity Research Analyst is responsible for generating high-conviction investment ideas with a clear focus on alpha generation and portfolio impact within the Financials sector. The role owns fundamental coverage end-to-end, develops differentiated investment views, and actively influences portfolio positioning through rigorous analysis, debate, and accountability for outcomes. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across Financials industries, including banks, insurance companies, asset managers, exchanges, payments businesses, financial technology companies, and diversified financial institutions. Through partnership with Portfolio Managers and investment colleagues, this individual will help shape investment decisions and contribute to delivering strong outcomes for clients. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities: Generate actionable long investment ideas with clear variant perception and portfolio relevance, primarily within US large-cap and mid-cap Financials companies. Own end-to-end fundamental coverage, including business analysis, valuation, underwriting, and investment recommendations. Develop disciplined, repeatable investment frameworks that scale across Financials industries and market environments. Build and maintain decision-grade financial models focused on material value drivers, scenario analysis, and risk/reward assessment. Conduct deep fundamental, industry, and primary research to identify key inflection points, structural advantages, and downside risks. Monitor portfolio positions and update views with speed, discipline, and intellectual honesty as new information emerges. Partner closely with Portfolio Managers and investment colleagues to influence sizing, timing, and portfolio construction. Contribute to a high-performance, debate-driven investment culture that values rigorous challenge, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your experience 6-10+ years of investment experience on the buy-side or at a leading sell-side institution. Demonstrated experience conducting fundamental research and security analysis within the Financials sector. Proven ability to generate differentiated investment ideas with clear implications for portfolio positioning. Deep understanding of Financials business models, competitive dynamics, balance sheet analysis, capital allocation, earnings drivers, and valuation frameworks. Experience analyzing banks, insurance companies, asset managers, exchanges, payments companies, financial technology businesses, or other diversified Financials industries. Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with a focus on materiality and investment decision-making. Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to articulate investment views to Portfolio Managers and investment committees. Experience influencing investment outcomes through evidence-based debate and collaboration. AI, Data & Research Capabilities Ability to use AI, data, and lightweight programming to deepen research, test investment hypotheses, and develop differentiated investment views. Experience leveraging structured and unstructured data to evaluate Financials-sector trends, competitive dynamics, and business performance. Ability to use analytical tools and technology-enabled research approaches to challenge assumptions and improve investment judgment. Experience incorporating alternative datasets, regulatory disclosures, company filings, and market data into the investment process. Curiosity about how AI, automation, data infrastructure, and digital innovation are reshaping Financials business models and industry economics. Ability to integrate data-driven insights with fundamental research to support investment recommendations and portfolio decisions. 
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$155,000.00 - USD$210,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
