Job Description This is a hands-on senior technology leadership role supporting the development and implementation of advanced analytics across Investment technology stacks, engaging directly with global stakeholders across Investments, Trading, Investment Operations, Products, Vendors, and wider technology teams. The role requires strong hands-on engineering craft in Java and Python, alongside strategic leadership. This includes leveraging Generative AI, Big Data, Machine Learning, and other cutting-edge Distributed Technology Stack with Full-stack Development practices. Provide strategic ideas and thought leadership with practical AI fluency — a clear, evidence-based view of what works, what doesn't, and how to apply it. Applies solid financial industry business knowledge to support decision and strategy solutions in key business areas. Demonstrates strong technical/problem solving skills. Manages multiple projects collaboratively. Mentor the team members and lay out their collective path for growth. Job Responsibilities Strategic Technology Leadership: Define and drive technology strategy aligned with Investments business goals. Identify opportunities for value creation through cloud-native architecture, data enablement, and full-stack engineering solutions. Hands-On Engineering Leadership: Remain hands-on in Java and Python. Set the engineering bar across code quality, architecture, resilience, and cost efficiency. Contribute directly to design and implementation of critical components alongside leading the team. Cloud & Data Enablement: Lead initiatives that leverage AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, ECS) to build scalable, secure, and cost-effective platforms for investment analytics, reporting, and modeling. Practical AI Fluency & Application: Bring a pragmatic, evidence-based view on AI/GenAI adoption. Identify, prototype, and productionise GenAI use cases in investment workflows, with a clear approach to guardrails, evaluation, cost, and latency trade-offs. Domain-Driven Engineering: Translate complex investment domain problems into actionable engineering solutions. Collaborate with business stakeholders to define problem statements and deliver high-impact technology outcomes. Solution Architecture & Modeling: Oversee the design and implementation of decision logic systems that support investment decision-making and portfolio management. Delivery Excellence: Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of engineering solutions. Manage prioritization across multiple initiatives in a matrixed environment, balancing strategic and tactical needs. Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Operate credibly with senior technology and business leaders. Able to be brought into detailed working sessions with other senior tech leaders on strategy, architecture, and delivery, and influence decisions through clear, business-aligned communication. Team Development & Culture: Build and nurture a high-performing global engineering team. Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. Lead performance management, coaching, and recruitment efforts. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with analytics, product, and business teams to co-create solutions. Drive alignment across technology and business functions to support flagship initiatives. Full Stack Engineering Oversight: Lead and personally contribute to development across front-end (React, Angular), back-end (Java, Node.js, Python), and data layers. Ensure robust, maintainable, and scalable codebases aligned with cloud-native principles. Cloud Platform Strategy: Provide inputs and implement AWS-based solutions for data ingestion, processing, and visualization. Optimize cloud usage for performance and cost efficiency. Investment Technology Expertise: Apply deep domain knowledge in investment products, portfolio analytics, and financial advisory to guide technology decisions and solution design. Advanced Analytics Enablement: Collaborate with data science and analytics teams to build operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools that support investment insights and decision-making. Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate technical strategies and analytical findings to senior leadership in a clear, business-aligned manner. Influence decision-making through data-driven insights. Project & Change Leadership: Lead strategic, cross-functional initiatives that drive transformation in investment technology. Ensure structured execution and measurable outcomes. Governance & Compliance: Ensure engineering practices adhere to regulatory, compliance, and security standards. Promote best practices in data governance and software development lifecycle. Team Leadership: Provide direction and mentorship to a distributed team. Foster collaboration, innovation, and ownership across geographies and time zones. Technical Expertise 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 5-7 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams, while remaining hands-on in code and architecture. Strong hands-on command of Java and Python, alongside proven experience in full stack development, including modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular), back-end technologies (e.g., Java, Node.js, Python), and database systems (SQL and NoSQL). Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Platform, including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, RDS, ECS, and CloudFormation. Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices. Practical AI fluency — demonstrated experience designing and deploying Generative AI solutions, including use of LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock), with a clear point of view on what works in production. Familiarity with GenAI use cases in financial services such as automated reporting, intelligent document processing, investment insights generation, and conversational interfaces. Domain Knowledge Solid understanding of Investments Technology, including financial advisory platforms, portfolio management systems, trading workflows, and investment analytics. Investment functional experience preferred; other financial services (e.g., Investment Banking, Wealth Management) acceptable if technically very strong. Experience working with financial data, modeling, and reporting in regulated environments. Familiarity with financial products (e.g., mutual funds, ETFs, annuities, insurance) and investment lifecycle processes. Leadership & Strategy Demonstrated ability to d efine and execute technology strategy aligned with business goals. Experience leading global, cross-functional engineering teams, including mentoring, performance management, and talent development. Proven track record of delivering complex, strategic initiatives in a matrixed organization. Proven ability to engage senior technology and business stakeholders in detailed technical and strategic discussions — someone who can be brought into deep-dive sessions with other senior tech leaders. Analytical & Communication Skills Strong analytical mindset with experience in data enablement, metrics development, and predictive modeling. Ability to translate technical concepts into business-relevant insights and communicate effectively with senior leadership. Experience collaborating with analytics, product, and business teams to co-create solutions. Education & Certifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Preferred: Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer) and/or Agile methodologies.
