ABOUT THE ROLE You will play a key role as part of the Operations Generative AI (GenAI) Product team to deliver innovative GenAI solutions across Process Development functions, including Drug Substance, Drug Product, Attribute Sciences, and Combination Products. This role is ideal for early-career professionals with relevant software engineering experience who are interested in building reliable, scalable, and user-centered GenAI applications for Operations. Role Description: As an Associate Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of GenAI web applications across Process Development functions. Your primary focus will be on developing Python backend services, APIs, and LLM-enabled workflows using FastAPI. You will also contribute to React-based user interfaces and collaborate with product, design, data, and platform teams to deliver secure and reliable GenAI solutions. Roles & Responsibilities: Develop and maintain Python-based backend services and APIs using FastAPI, django for GenAI applications. Contribute to React-based front-end components and user experiences for web applications. Integrate and support large language model (LLM) based applications, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and agent workflows. Write clean, efficient, well-tested code; participate in GitHub-based code reviews and follow established engineering standards. Troubleshoot application issues and contribute to system reliability, performance, and operational support. Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to understand user needs and translate them into technical requirements. Learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends in the field of AI/Gen AI Basic Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Python software engineering, backend or web development, or GenAI application development OR Functional Skills: Required Skills: Strong Python development experience, including debugging, testing, design patterns, and data structures. Experience developing backend APIs using FastAPI. Working knowledge of React.js for front end frameworks. Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) based applications or integrating LLM APIs. Experience using Git and GitHub for source control and collaborative development. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL. Experience with vector databases and semantic search. Familiarity with at least one GenAI or agent framework, such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or a similar framework. Experience with RAG, prompt engineering, agent workflows, microservices, serverless architecture, CI/CD, and observability. Professional Certifications: AWS, Cloud, Data Science, or GenAI certifications preferred Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams. High degree of initiative and self-motivation. Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully. Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals. Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
