Sole Backend Engineer(Node.js / GCP) | Hyderabad, In Office

**About the Role** We’re hiring a Backend Developer to take strong execution ownership of the backend systems powering Zobaze POS, one of the most widely used mobile-first POS apps for retail and food businesses globally. For our merchants, this is not “just software.” When it works well, their business runs smoothly. When it does not, it affects real people, real transactions, and real operations. You will be the technical owner for Zobaze’s backend: the systems behind billing, inventory, staff, reports, and merchant workflows. You will work closely with the founder and product team, with real responsibility for how backend features are designed, shipped, monitored, and improved. This is a full-time, in-office role in Hyderabad. **What you’ll do** * Build and ship backend features from design through deployment and improvement. * Develop APIs, business logic, integrations, and data models. * Work on cloud services, background jobs, Pub/Sub flows, and other asynchronous workflows. * Improve the reliability, performance, security, and maintainability of existing systems. * Investigate production issues, fix root causes, and prevent them from recurring. * Improve deployment, testing, monitoring, and developer workflows where needed. * Work closely with Android, product, QA, and design to deliver complete product experiences. **Our stack** * Node.js and TypeScript * Google Cloud Platform and Firebase * Cloud Functions and Cloud Run * Firestore, Supabase, and Postgres * Pub/Sub and background tasks * Docker, Git, and CI/CD workflows **What we’re looking for** * 3+ years of backend engineering experience. * Strong Node.js and JavaScript skills; TypeScript experience is preferred. * Experience building and maintaining production APIs and services. * Hands-on experience with GCP, Firebase, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, or comparable cloud services. * Experience with Firestore, MongoDB, Postgres, or similar databases. * A practical understanding of queues, retries, background jobs, and failure handling. * Ability to debug production problems and improve system reliability. * Awareness of backend security, including access control, authentication, permissions, and data protection. * Comfort working independently, making sensible trade-offs, and communicating risks early. * Willingness to work from our Hyderabad office. Number of years of experience is not a deciding factor.
