Software Development Engineer in Test - SDET

You'll design testing approaches for complex features, mentor junior engineers, and make architectural decisions that shape how we approach automation at scale. ## What You'll Do - **Build test infrastructure:** Architect and implement test frameworks and infrastructure, and make architectural decisions about test design patterns and abstractions. - **Drive quality strategy:** Design testing strategies for new features and platform capabilities, and integrate testing earlier in the development lifecycle through cross-team collaboration. - **Optimize & maintain:** Refactor and optimize existing test suites for maintainability and performance, and improve CI/CD pipeline performance and test execution times. - **Manage environments & tooling:** Build and manage AWS-based test environments, and develop custom tooling and reporting to surface quality insights. - **Mentor:** Mentor SDET I engineers and conduct technical code reviews. ## What You'll Need - **Test automation & frameworks:** Extensive Playwright experience (including deep knowledge of fixtures architecture), object-oriented test framework design with layered patterns (PCOM/POM) and scalable abstractions over linear scripts, and API testing/orchestration (REST/GraphQL integrated with UI workflows). - **TypeScript & software design:** Advanced TypeScript (generics, decorators, advanced typing patterns, type inference), deep understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, and race-condition prevention, and strong software design principles including domain-driven design and patterns (Factory, Builder, Facade, Composite). - **Infrastructure & DevOps:** Hands-on AWS (EC2 configuration, CloudWatch log analysis, debugging cloud environments), Docker (containerization, docker-compose, image management), CI/CD debugging and optimization, with Terraform a plus. - **Version control:** Expert-level Git, GitHub, and distributed version control workflows. - **Reporting & tooling:** Advanced reporting (Allure, Playwright HTML reports, custom solutions), test infrastructure and framework architecture, performance optimization at scale, and npm ecosystem/package management. ## Compensation and Benefits - **Compensation:** Top of market salary + bonuses and equity - **Time off:** 49 days paid time off - **Benefits:** PTO, full benefits, retirement and wellness plans. - **Growth:** Professional development support, remote workspace setup bonus. - **Team building:** Annual company offsites in exciting locations around the world ## Location - Certa is a remote-first company and we hire globally.
