Senior Product Engineer

We work with SaaS teams from fast-growing startups to global enterprises, helping them unlock new revenue and improve customer experience with world-class analytics. **About the role** We’re looking for a Senior Product Engineer to own our embed: guest tokens, tenancy, filters, dashboard chrome, exports, and the plugin customers drop into their apps. You’ll sit with technical customers, judge whether a request is feasible on this product, and decide if it becomes a durable capability, a paid exception, or a no — then ship it. This is not a PM role and not a ticket-taking SWE role. You own this surface end to end. **What you’ll do** - Own the embed contract across the stack: API tokens, tenant isolation, filters, pivot, PDF/CSV, dashboard chrome, and plugin APIs. - Hear customer requirements yourself — CTOs and product engineers talking in tokens, RLS, SDK props, and warehouse constraints — and turn them into a clear problem statement. - Evaluate feasibility on *this* product: can we do it on the embed, tenancy, and query layer without lying, or is it a different product? - Decide primitive vs paid exception vs no, even when the one-off is technically feasible. Sequence that backlog; no customer-named forks. - Design and ship the API contracts, data models, and UI for data-heavy embed surfaces: tables, filters, charting, and configuration. - Improve performance, reliability, and fail-closed tenancy — a scoping bug is a security incident, not a UX issue. - Write the brief for what you are about to build, ship it in React/TypeScript and Node/TypeScript, and tell the team what actually landed. - Partner with the founders on this surface. Your no will not get reversed in Slack. **What we’re looking for** - 5-8 years of experience building web applications in a product company, including a surface you owned (API + UI + the customer who used it). - Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, plus deep experience with Node.js (or Python) and REST APIs. - Proven ability to design and ship complex, data-heavy product experiences across frontend and backend. - Comfort evaluating technical customer requirements: you can tell a real embed/tenancy constraint from a wishlist, and you can say no. - Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, and multi-tenant data access; analytical databases like ClickHouse are a plus. - Track record of debugging production issues, improving performance, and treating isolation and auth as correctness properties. - High ownership and product judgment: UX details, edge cases, tradeoffs, and shipping capabilities — not one-off custom work. - Comfortable making architectural decisions, breaking down ambiguous problems, and driving work independently in a fast-moving startup. **Nice to have** - Embedded analytics, BI, a public SDK/web component, or multi-tenant SaaS you shipped and supported. - Hands-on experience with Python/FastAPI in production. - Experience with charting/visualization libraries. - You’ve been the engineer customers message when something is wrong, and you turned that into a product change, not a pile of hotfixes. - Prior startup experience or working closely with founders and customers. **How we work** - Location: Chennai (preferred), with overlap to IST working hours. Some overlap with US customer hours for calls. - Small, senior team with high ownership and direct collaboration with the founders. - Opportunity to influence architecture, product direction, and early culture while owning a real product surface.
