Practise the Lead Engineer – AI & Product Engineering at Trafasa interview free →### **About the role** We are looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer – AI & Product Engineering to take ownership of building and scaling our product from 0→1. You will work closely with the founders to make key technical decisions, design scalable systems, and build AI-powered product capabilities. This is a high-ownership role for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and turning ideas into production-ready products. ### **What you’ll do** * Own backend architecture and core product engineering. * Build and deploy AI-powered features using LLMs, RAG, embeddings and AI agents. * Design and develop scalable APIs and integrations. * Work with databases, cloud infrastructure and production systems. * Make architecture and technology decisions across the product. * Build reliable, maintainable and production-ready systems. * Work closely with founders and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. * Take ownership of projects from concept → development → deployment. * Help establish engineering practices and mentor other engineers as the team grows. ### **What we’re looking for** * Strong hands-on experience with Python and backend development. * Experience building applications using LLMs and Generative AI. * Practical experience with RAG, vector databases, embeddings and/or AI agents. * Strong understanding of system design and software architecture. * Experience building and deploying production APIs. * Experience with cloud platforms, Docker and CI/CD. * Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset. * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment. * Experience building products from 0→1 is highly valued.
