Engineering Manager - Customer Developer Experience

## About Constructor Launched in 2019, Constructor is an AI-first ecommerce search and discovery platform that helps shoppers find the right products at the right time and enables leading global e-commerce brands to drive meaningful revenue and conversion gains. ## About the Role As an Engineering Manager on the Customer Developer Experience (CDX) team, you'll lead engineers whose work spans two fronts: partnering directly with the external developers integrating our platform to provide hands-on technical guidance, and building the advanced open-source tooling that makes those integrations effortless. Constructor’s open source technology is utilized on millions of end user devices and are crucial to powering the most innovative product discovery experiences in the industry. You'll set the technical strategy for our open-source tooling and how it advances the experience of the external developers who build on our platform. Keeping their trust means keeping our libraries reliable, high-quality, and well-documented, and that ownership sits with you. ## Challenges you will tackle - **Cross functional collaboration and prioritization:** close collaboration with product, customer success, data science and other engineering teams to prioritize features and address customer needs effectively. - **Balancing support and delivery**: allocating the team's capacity across hands-on integration support and long-term tooling development, so that neither the customers in front of you nor the platform work that scales the whole business gets starved. - **Recruiting and hiring**: owning the hiring process for your team end to end, from building a strong pipeline to running an effective interview loop and closing the engineers you want. - **Career growth**: guiding the development of the engineers on your team, giving direct feedback, creating opportunities that stretch them, and helping them work through the obstacles that come up along the way. - **Technical direction and quality**: setting the standard for the team's tech stack, tooling, and testing practices, and holding a high bar for the quality of what the team ships. - **Open-source libraries**: guiding the development of the cutting-edge TypeScript/React UI libraries your team ships and maintains, which power next-generation retail experiences worldwide. - **Developer experience**: keeping DevX a first-class priority for external integrators, driving the intuitive tools, comprehensive documentation, and reference examples that shorten their time to value. ## Requirements - 5+ years of web development experience, at least 2 years directly leading an engineering team. - Strong full-stack development experience, including JavaScript & React. - Experience with software critical to production environments and/or data/ETL pipelines. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively triage issues and prioritize tasks. - Interest in interacting with customers and solving new problems daily, working closely with internal teams. - Ability to communicate with clarity in written and verbal context, comfortable engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects is a plus. - English on[B2/_C1 level (CEFR)_](https://www.coe.int/en/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages/table-1-cefr-3.3-common-reference-levels-global-scale) or higher. - Able to attend regular meetings between 2 and 8 pm UTC. - Passion to help fuel the continued success of our high-growth startup. ## Benefits - 🏝️ Unlimited vacation time - we strongly encourage all employees to take at least 3 weeks per year - 🌎 Fully remote team - choose where you live - 🛋️ Work from home stipend - we want you to have the resources you need to set up your home office - 💻 Apple laptops provided for new employees - 🧑‍🎓 Training and development budget - refreshed each year for every employee - 👪 Maternity & Paternity leave for qualified employees - 🧠 Work with smart people who will help you grow and make a meaningful impact - 💵 Base salary: 100-130K USD, depending on knowledge, skills, experience, and interview results - 📈 Stock options - offered in addition to the base salary - 🎉 Regular team offsites to connect and collaborate ## **Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Constructor** At [Constructor.io](http://Constructor.io) we are committed to cultivating a work environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
