Chief Delivery Officer

**This is a unquie role for sure. This role should be someone looking to step into a CTO role but technically sharp in modern appdev to grow and lead the proper team. ** Role: Chief Delivery Officer Company: Veritium Corp (www.veritium.com) Veritium Corp is a US-based technology solutions provider delivering enterprise-grade cloud, data, and AI architectures. We are not just any other consulting and services company. We are turning the model of AI and Cloud development on its head. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, high-performing leader to establish, scale, and lead our technical practice which entails custom software development, cloud deployments and infrascture. As CDO you will have complete autonomy to build Veritium’s engineering team. Operating as both a strategic leader and an active architect/lead developer, you will define our engineering strategy, lead our key developements and lead our technical staff to be high preforming and structured. As CDO you will be called on to preform pre-sales discussions with clients to secure foundational enterprise accounts, and recruit a top-tier technical delivery team. This role will inhert a team of about a dozen fulltime engineers and support staff across the US and India with a mandate to quickly hire additional technical staff. This position offers a rare combination of corporate stability and startup agility, backed by a parent company and founder. We are a 1.5 year old startup, but well backed spin-off of a sucessful SaaS holding co with several established modern tech companies. We have a solid revenue stream and technical team. We prefer someone that loves travel and getting out to meet current and prospective clients. We're building a new practice delivering custom AI solutions, SaaS products, and cloud infrastructure to B2B clients. We need a hands-on technical leader who can architect solutions, code alongside a small team when deadlines demand it, mentor junior/mid-level engineers, and represent the practice credibly in front of clients — from discovery calls through delivery. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Delivery * Own end-to-end technical architecture across AI/ML systems, SaaS applications, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) * Make and document build-vs-buy, framework, and platform decisions that balance speed, cost, and long-term maintainability * Write production code regularly — not just review it — especially on critical paths, prototypes, and when the team hits capacity constraints * Set and enforce engineering standards: code quality, testing, CI/CD, security practices, and technical documentation * Evaluate and integrate third-party AI models/APIs (LLMs, vector databases, ML infrastructure) into client solutions Team Leadership * Directly manage and mentor a small team of junior-to-mid-level engineers, growing their skills and ownership over time * Run sprint planning, technical reviews, and 1:1s; balance individual growth with delivery deadlines * Create a technical culture that scales — documentation, onboarding, and repeatable patterns — so the team isn't dependent on any one person's tribal knowledge * Make staffing and skills-gap calls: when to hire, when to upskill, when to bring in contractors Client Engagement * Serve as the primary technical voice in client meetings — discovery, solution design, technical sales support, and status reviews * Translate complex technical tradeoffs into business terms for non-technical stakeholders * Produce and present architecture diagrams, technical proposals, and project roadmaps clients can act on * Build client trust and confidence through polished, professional presence — this role is often the technical face of the company externally * Support pre-sales: scoping calls, technical feasibility assessments, and SOW/estimate input Strategic/Operational * Advise leadership on technology strategy, platform investments, and delivery risk * Own technical risk management: security posture, scalability planning, and incident response readiness * Help define the practice's service offerings and reusable accelerators/IP as the team scales Qualifications Technical 8+ years of software engineering experience, including full-stack and cloud-native development Demonstrated experience architecting and shipping AI-powered products (LLM integration, RAG, ML pipelines, or similar) — not just using AI tools, but building with them Deep hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP); infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK/Pulumi) a strong plus Strong SaaS architecture experience: multi-tenancy, API design, scalable data models, security/compliance basics (SOC 2, data privacy) Fluent in modern development practices: CI/CD, containerization, automated testing, observability Comfortable being the most senior engineer in the room and the one still writing code under deadline pressure Leadership 3+ years leading or mentoring engineering teams, ideally in a small company, startup, or consultancy setting where roles are fluid Track record of developing junior talent into confident contributors Comfortable operating without a large org chart or established process — willing to build the playbook, not just follow one Client-Facing Proven experience presenting technical concepts to non-technical B2B clients or executives Polished communication style — confident, credible, and consultative rather than purely technical/transactional Experience in a client-services, consulting, or agency environment is a strong plus Comfortable owning a room: client kickoffs, technical sales support, exec-level status updates Mindset Entrepreneurial — energized by building a practice from the ground up, not inheriting a mature one Pragmatic: knows when to move fast and ship, and when to slow down for the client-critical stuff Low ego about doing "junior" work (writing code, debugging, documentation) when the team needs it Nice to Have Prior experience in a technical co-founder, fractional CTO, or agency/consultancy lead role Existing network or reputation in the AI/SaaS consulting space Public speaking, writing, or thought-leadership presence (blog, conference talks, etc.)
