What if you could shape a career as unique as you? At WSP, you can always find opportunities to grow and do what matters to you. Make the most of our global reach to discover new challenges and chances to work with diverse, talented individuals who will help you expand your horizons. This is not a traditional corporate wellbeing role. It is a senior, programme-facing position for someone who understands how major programmes are established, governed, financed and delivered, and who can use that insight to shape leadership, culture and workforce performance from the outset. What if you could do the kind of work the world needs? At WSP, you can draw on our global scale, contribute to landmark programmes and work with some of the brightest minds in the industry. This role offers the opportunity to influence how our most significant and complex programmes create the conditions for people to perform sustainably, safely and at their best. Programme leadership Work alongside Programme Directors, leadership teams and executive sponsors on strategically important programmes. Client influence Build trusted relationships with major clients, partners and delivery organisations, bringing challenge, judgement and practical solutions. A little more about your role Major programme leadership and integration • Operate as a trusted adviser to Programme Directors, Project Leadership Teams and senior client stakeholders, with the credibility to contribute at senior leadership level. • Engage early in programme set-up and mobilisation so that workforce wellbeing, psychosocial risk and sustainable performance are built into the delivery model, rather than added later. • Understand the programme business case, financial and commercial model, contractual arrangements, governance structure, client commitments and delivery pressures, and use that understanding to shape proportionate solutions. • Integrate wellbeing and psychosocial risk into programme governance, project management systems, HSEQ plans, assurance activity, leadership routines and performance reporting. • Provide strategic advice during periods of mobilisation, transformation, delivery pressure, organisational change, critical incidents and programme recovery. • Bring insight from across UK&I major projects and programmes to strengthen practice, improve consistency and inform global programme development. Client relationships, bids and commercial value • Build strong, credible relationships with major clients, joint venture and alliance partners, delivery teams and supply chain organisations. • Understand what matters to the client and translate workforce risk and performance insight into clear actions that support programme outcomes. • Contribute to major bids, pursuits and mobilisation activity by shaping differentiated wellbeing, psychosocial risk and workforce performance propositions. • Help define deliverable commitments, measures and governance arrangements that are credible, commercially aware and capable of being implemented. • Represent WSP confidently in senior client conversations, programme reviews, leadership workshops and external forums. Psychosocial risk and workforce performance • Act as the senior subject matter lead for organisational wellbeing and psychosocial risk within major programme environments. • Identify how programme design, leadership, workload, role clarity, interfaces, change, commercial pressure and ways of working may affect people and delivery. • Lead or facilitate programme-level psychosocial and stress risk assessments, ensuring findings result in practical controls, clear ownership and measurable follow-through. • Design targeted, evidence-based interventions that strengthen leadership capability, psychological safety, team effectiveness, workload management and workforce resilience. • Ensure approaches align with relevant external guidance, including ISO 45003, and with WSP requirements and client commitments. • Support proportionate responses to complex workforce wellbeing issues while working closely with HSEQ, HR and specialist colleagues. Insight, assurance and continuous improvement • Use programme, workforce and organisational data to identify emerging risks, priorities and opportunities for improvement. • Establish meaningful success measures that demonstrate whether interventions are reducing risk and improving programme and people outcomes. • Provide concise, decision-useful reporting to programme leaders, clients and governance forums. • Share lessons and effective practice across programmes, helping WSP build a stronger and more consistent major programme capability. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate The profile we are seeking You are likely to have built your career in major programmes, programme advisory, infrastructure delivery, complex professional services or a comparable environment. You combine programme and commercial understanding with credible expertise in organisational wellbeing, psychosocial risk, organisational performance or workforce strategy. • Significant experience working within complex major programmes, infrastructure projects or portfolios, including programme set-up, mobilisation and delivery. • A deep understanding of programme governance, financial and commercial models, contractual arrangements, delivery partnerships, joint ventures, alliances and client governance frameworks. • The gravitas, judgement and presence to operate effectively with Senior Leadership Teams, Programme Directors, Client Executives and executive sponsors. • A proven ability to build trusted relationships with major clients and delivery partners, influence strategic decisions and navigate competing priorities. • Commercial awareness and the ability to connect people, health and organisational risks with programme performance, client outcomes and delivery commitments. • Experience shaping programme culture, leadership behaviours, organisational effectiveness or workforce performance in complex and high-pressure environments. • Credible expertise in organisational wellbeing, psychosocial risk, occupational health, organisational psychology, workforce strategy or a closely related field. • A track record of turning evidence and insight into practical controls and interventions that can be embedded in programme delivery. • Experience supporting bids, pursuits, client presentations or mobilisation, with the ability to articulate a compelling and deliverable proposition. • Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills, including the ability to challenge constructively and make complex issues clear to executive audiences. • The flexibility to travel regularly across the UK and Ireland and to spend meaningful time within major programme environments. What success will look like • Programme leaders and clients see this role as a valued part of the leadership team, not a separate corporate function. • Wellbeing and psychosocial risk considerations are visible in programme design, governance, controls and leadership decisions. • Risks are identified earlier, ownership is clearer and interventions are focused on the underlying conditions of work. • WSP is better able to evidence the value of its approach in bids, client relationships and programme delivery. • Learning from major programmes is captured and used to strengthen capability across UK&I and globally. Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all. Work on landmark projects around the world and embrace opportunities to make an even bigger impact in the communities you care about. What if you could do the best work of your life and create a legacy for yourself? With us, you can. Apply today. #LI-SB1
