Lead Consultant, (Site Investigation and Remediation)

This Opportunity WSP is seeking a Lead Consultant with 10 or more years' experience to join our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. A qualified candidate will be able to support our Site Investigation & Remediation (SIR) and our Environmental Health and Safety Business Lines. We offer flexible working arrangements to help with work/life balance and have offices located in Portland and Tigard, OR and Vancouver, WA . Your Impact This opportunity has a Seller/Doer focus. Identify and develop new clients for WSP’s environmental business through internal and external networking. Manage environmental health and safety projects involving site characterization, remedial design, hazardous materials surveys, industrial hygiene surveys and safety and environmental compliance, ensuring deliverables, schedules, and budgets are achieved. Conduct data analysis and reporting for environmental project tasks with minimal supervision; recommend remedial solutions using accepted scientific and engineering practices. Provide technical review to ensure compliance with EH&S regulations, company standards, contract requirements, and specifications. Travel to project sites primarily within the Pacific Northwest and occasionally across other national locations; minimal overnight travel required. Develop and maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and high‑quality service delivery. May be responsible for managing Environmental Remediation and Occupational Health specialists, assisting in the coordination of group member assignments, and mentoring junior staff. Directs and supervises technical assignments (both field & office) for staff in SIR and EH&S groups. Manage proposal preparation, including innovative technical approaches, competitive pricing, and client presentations. Prepare, direct and review technical reports, proposals and cost estimates. Who You Are Required Qualifications BS degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety and Occupational Health or related science/engineering field. Minimum of 10 years post-education experience. Minimum of 4 years business development experience. Business development experience and focus can be government and/or private sector. Experience with multiple sectors preferred. Staff management and leadership ability Project management experience including oversight of deliverables, schedules, and budgets. Demonstrated expertise with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and occupational safety and health regulations. Proven experience with environmental site investigations, remediation, field management, and sampling programs. Operational knowledge of Safety and Occupational Health monitoring equipment. Operational knowledge of computer databases and office programs (e.g., MS SharePoint, MS Excel, MS Word). Candidate must have a collaborative approach, willing to work with other WSP offices to cross-market service lines and work towards larger project opportunities. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications Over 5 years of Consulting experience. Additional professional certifications that could include: Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or Mechanical Engineering license (PE). Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Registered or Licensed Geologist (RG/LG). Experience and knowledge regarding the local client market sectors and having an established client base. MS degree. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $94,600 - $125,000 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
