A little more about your role We are looking to appoint a Health & Safety Officer to support the WSP Africa business in all aspects of health and safety. The role includes planning, executing and maintaining records for medical examinations, health and safety training, premises and equipment inspections, and periodic audits. The position also provides assistance and support to opportunity leads and project managers throughout the project lifecycle, including tender information, project safety management plans, HSE tools and support during execution. While this is an office-based role, site visits may be required from time to time. Key Responsibilities: Support the Regional Health & Safety Lead in managing health, safety, security and environment for the region. Plan and facilitate periodic medical examinations and health and safety-related training and maintain associated records. Schedule and monitor premises inspections by Health and Safety Representatives, collate findings and monitor actions. Assist opportunity pursuit teams with statistics and information relating to the WSP HSSE management system for tender compilation. Assist project teams with the compilation of project health and safety management plans and associated tools and documentation. Undertake periodic site visits, as required, to provide project teams with on-site support and guidance. Assist with maintaining records for the WSP Africa health and safety management system and preparing for and facilitating external audits. Assist with monitoring HSSE reporting and compiling monthly statistics Health and Safety: Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you. Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm Embracing, displaying, and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times. About You We're looking for someone who is equally passionate about technical excellence and digital innovation. You'll bring: A National Diploma in Health & Safety or a similar qualification from a recognised institution. SAMTRAC or equivalent Training. Registration with SAIOSH or SACPCMP is advantageous. A minimum of five years' experience in health and safety administration and project support. A valid driver's licence. Key Competencies and Generic Skills: In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and relevant South African legislation. Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good time-management and organisational skills. Ability to develop stakeholder relationships, particularly internally, recognising that the role provides service and support to the revenue-generating areas of the business .
