Automation Test Engineer

This role gives you the opportunity to combine hands-on test automation with genuine influence over software quality. You will work across an established insurance technology portfolio while helping evolve our automation approach and tooling. You will have the space to improve testing practices, collaborate closely with engineering teams, and contribute directly to the quality of products serving the insurance sector. Within Verisk Claims UK, our technology supports the insurance ecosystem, including solutions across Motor, Anti-Fraud, Property, and Personal Injury. We are looking for an Automation Test Engineer to help us strengthen the quality, reliability, and performance of these products. This is more than a test execution role. You will have real ownership of automation, influence how quality is built into the development lifecycle, and work closely with engineering, product, and business colleagues to make sure our software is ready for release. Our wider Claims technology environment includes SaaS products used by insurers, suppliers, police forces, and supporting organizations across the UK and internationally, giving engineering teams the opportunity to contribute to software with meaningful reach across the insurance ecosystem. #LI-SD2 #LI-Hybrid You will bring solid hands-on experience in software testing and automation and be comfortable working as part of an Agile engineering team. We are particularly interested in experience with: • Cypress.io or another modern test automation framework. • BDD frameworks such as Cucumber. • API testing with Postman, Insomnia, or similar tools. • Test case management using QMetry or equivalent. • JIRA for defect, task, and sprint management. • System, regression, and integration testing. • Working collaboratively with software developers and other technical and business stakeholders. Just as importantly, you will be methodical and curious, with strong attention to detail and the confidence to communicate technical issues clearly. Nice to have: • JavaScript or SQL knowledge, or experience working within a Java-based environment. • Exposure to Playwright. • Experience within UK insurance, particularly Motor Claims, Anti-Fraud, Property, or Personal Injury. • Experience with performance or load testing tools such as JMeter or k6. • Experience using AI-assisted tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to improve testing or engineering workflows. • An ISTQB, ISEB, or other recognized software testing certification. • Experience developing or working with test strategies in regulated or highly compliant environments.
