Vice President, Privacy & AI Governance | Legal

This role is open to remote or hybrid candidates (East Coast preference), with hybrid being central to our Charlotte, NC area office. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

The Vice President, Privacy & AI Governance will lead Red Ventures’ enterprise privacy and AI governance strategy across our portfolio of brands, businesses, and legal entities. This leader will oversee the privacy team and set the direction for scalable programs that enable RV to innovate while appropriately managing privacy, regulatory, marketing, and emerging AI risks.

Serving as RV’s senior subject-matter expert in these areas, this individual will advise leaders across Product, Technology, Marketing, Legal, and the broader business on complex and evolving risk considerations. This role will also lead and develop a small team, establishing clear priorities, building team capability, and ensuring effective execution of the privacy and AI governance strategy.

What You’ll Do:

• Set and lead RV’s enterprise privacy strategy, establishing the policies, governance, controls, and priorities necessary to operate a comprehensive privacy program across brands, businesses, and legal entities.
• Own the strategy and continued evolution of RV’s AI Governance program, establishing frameworks for risk classification, impact assessments, policies, documentation, oversight, and monitoring to support compliant, auditable, and trustworthy development and deployment of AI.
• Serve as the senior privacy and AI governance advisor for complex or high-risk products, technologies, vendors, partnerships, and data uses, helping business leaders evaluate risk and make informed decisions.
• Maintain deep expertise in the evolving privacy, AI, consumer protection, and related regulatory landscape—including legislation, enforcement, litigation, and emerging interpretations, and translate developments into RV’s strategy, policies, and business requirements.
• Oversee core privacy and compliance programs, including privacy risk assessments and ROPA, privacy notices and policies, data-processing and contractual requirements, and marketing compliance across email, cookies/tracking technologies, telephone, and text communications, including TCPA.
• Establish effective governance and accountability across the organization, partnering with Product, Technology, Engineering, Data, Marketing, Procurement, Security, Legal, and business leaders to embed privacy and AI considerations into how RV builds products and makes decisions.
• Represent RV on relevant privacy and AI legislative, regulatory, and industry matters, partnering with Legal, Government Affairs, external advisors, and other stakeholders to assess emerging requirements and inform company positions.
• Establish meaningful program metrics, reporting, education, and operating rhythms that provide senior leaders with visibility into material risks, emerging trends, program effectiveness, and priorities.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting functional priorities, delegating ownership, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and creating opportunities for teammates to deepen their expertise and expand their impact. 

What We’re Looking For:

• 10+ years of relevant experience in privacy, data protection, regulatory compliance, technology law, AI governance, or a closely related field, including significant responsibility for leading enterprise privacy programs.
• Demonstrated expertise interpreting and applying U.S. privacy and data protection requirements within a complex, multi-business organization.
• Experience setting strategy and advising senior Product, Technology, Marketing, Legal, or business leaders on complex privacy, data-use, and technology-related risk.
• Experience building and overseeing formal privacy governance programs, including risk assessments, ROPA, policies and notices, contractual/data-processing requirements, and related controls.
• Strong understanding of marketing and consumer communications requirements, including email, cookies/tracking technologies, TCPA, and related compliance considerations.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders on matters involving competing business and risk considerations.
• Previous people leadership experience, including developing talent, setting functional priorities, delegating ownership, and managing performance.

Preferred Experience: 

• Experience developing or leading an enterprise AI governance or responsible AI program.
• Experience within a multi-brand, technology, digital media, marketplace, or similarly complex business environment.
• Familiarity with AI regulatory frameworks, algorithmic risk assessments, use-case classification, and emerging state, federal, and international AI requirements.
• Experience supporting external regulatory, legislative, or public-policy engagement related to privacy, AI, technology, or consumer protection.
• Relevant privacy certification(s), such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or comparable credentials.
• JD or other relevant advanced degree is a plus but not required based on depth of relevant experience.

Compensation:

Total Cash Compensation Range: $250,000 - $300,000 per year

This role is eligible for a target bonus, which is included in the Total Cash Compensation Range above. This role is also eligible for Equity, which is offered separately from the Total Cash Compensation Range listed above. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.
