Staff Software Engineer - AI Platform

SentinelOne is building a new AI Platform team whose mission is to accelerate AI feature delivery across the company while ensuring every AI feature meets our security, cost, and quality standards. As a Staff Engineer on this founding team, you will lead the design and delivery of the platform's core services — agent and MCP infrastructure, evaluation pipelines, and AI observability that every AI-powered feature at SentinelOne will run on. The best platform work is grounded in product reality: you'll partner closely with product teams, at times building customer-facing AI features alongside them, and platformize what proves valuable.

This is a new platform with real, immediate customers — the impact of your work will be visible in every AI capability SentinelOne ships. 

What will you do?

Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of core AI Platform services — such as evaluation pipelines, agent and MCP infrastructure, and AI observability — from ambiguous requirements through production
• Architect solutions for complex platform features with performance, scalability, security, and testability built in from the start
• Partner with product teams: help build customer-facing AI features where needed, and turn the patterns that prove valuable into shared platform services
• Contribute to the team's technical roadmap and influence technology selection and build-vs-buy decisions
• Own operational excellence for the services you build: reliability, observability, capacity planning, deployment strategy, and blameless postmortems
• Mentor other engineers on the team through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance

What skills and knowledge should you bring?

Primary responsibilities include:

• 7+ years of experience building and operating backend distributed systems at scale in production
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered systems — for example model API integration, retrieval or agent architectures, evaluation pipelines, or LLM observability
• A track record of leading projects of moderate-to-high complexity end-to-end, including coordinating the work of other engineers
• Strong coding skills in a mainstream backend language (e.g. Python or Java) and solid experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure
• Product mindset: experience building customer-facing features and translating user and customer needs into technical decisions
• Nice to have: experience in cybersecurity or another regulated/high-trust domain; experience building or operating MCP servers
