Job Description

The Scrum Master, Software Delivery is responsible for facilitating and continuously improving Agile execution across Butterfly's Mobile and Cloud software teams. This role brings proven Scrum and Agile best practice into an organization that is actively maturing its delivery model, and is accountable for sprint-cycle health, ceremony effectiveness, and delivery-metric visibility.  The role will be part of the Program Management Office.

This role's focus is the sprint cycle itself: ceremonies, backlog health, delivery metrics, and coaching teams toward consistent, sustainable Agile practice.

You will be a key partner to Engineering, Product, and Program Management, helping teams run effective ceremonies, surface risk early, and build delivery habits that hold up under regulatory and design-control requirements.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:

• Own sprint ceremony facilitation (standup, sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective) across Mobile and Cloud, consolidating a function that is currently distributed across Product, Engineering, and Program Management.
• Coach teams on Agile and Scrum best practice; identify and close gaps in ceremony effectiveness, backlog health, and delivery hygiene.
• Own and report sprint-level delivery metrics (velocity, burndown, sprint health, ceremony adherence) to Program Management and Engineering leadership.
• Maintain a live view of cross-team dependencies and blockers; escalate to Program Management when resolution requires cross-functional coordination beyond the team level.
• Standardize ceremony structure and delivery-metric definitions across Mobile and Cloud as both organizations' Agile practice matures, in partnership with Engineering leadership.
• Proactively flag capacity risk, ceremony load, team count, or ceremony ownership gaps, to Program Management before it affects delivery or team health.
• Perform a broad variety of tasks in support of Agile delivery and the broader Software organization.

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

• 5+ years directly facilitating Agile/Scrum delivery inside a software engineering organization, ideally spanning both mobile and cloud/platform teams.
• Fluent in sprint and delivery data, comfortable building and maintaining dashboards (Jira, Smartsheet, or equivalent) that give Engineering and Program Management real-time visibility into delivery health"
• A demonstrated track record standing up or maturing Agile practice in an organization with inconsistent or newly formed process, not only running ceremonies in an already-mature shop.
• Deep, hands-on fluency in Scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement, and delivery metrics (velocity, burndown, sprint health) using Jira or an equivalent tool.
• Comfortable coaching engineers, tech leads, and Product Owners without direct authority; a genuine servant-leadership orientation, not a command-and-control facilitation style.
• Experience working in or around regulated or governance-heavy environments (medical device, healthtech, fintech, or similar) and a working understanding of how SDLC and design-control requirements intersect with sprint execution.
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills; able to run effective ceremonies for teams at different maturity levels and translate delivery signals into clear updates for Program Management and Engineering leadership.
• Able to operate across two distinct organizations with different levels of process maturity without forcing a premature one-size-fits-all rollout.

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

• A formal Agile certification (CSM, CSPO, PMI-ACP, or equivalent).
• Experience in a growth-stage or scaling engineering organization where Agile practice was actively being defined rather than inherited fully formed.
• Prior exposure to SDLC or design-control documentation requirements in a regulated software environment.
• Experience operating in a matrixed model, coaching Agile practice without reporting into the Program Management function.

Location

Butterfly offers a hybrid work model for most positions, with team members spending two or more days a week in the office. While flexibility is key, we value in-person connections that spark creativity and teamwork. This is a hybrid position and will be based out of our office in New York City, NY.

Compensation 

Our estimated salary for this role is between $165,000 - $175,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.
