People & Culture Operations Partner

Key Responsibilities

• Report to the Sr. Director, People Operations, and partner closely with the global People & Culture team.
• Own and support key P&C programs including benefits, COBRA, leaves of absence, payroll support, investigations, performance management, employee engagement, and mandatory training compliance.
• Own operational support for U.S. benefits programs and support benefits administration across our global offices, including open enrollment, policy updates, vendor coordination, payroll deductions, employee questions, and employee communications.
• Handle employment-related inquiries from employees and managers, escalating complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate P&C team members.
• Partner with managers to provide consultative support across employee engagement, performance management, retention, and talent development.
• Participate in employee relations meetings, investigations, and terminations while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
• Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements, partnering with internal and external experts where needed.
• Assist with immigration-related processes and generate reports that provide visibility into key employee and P&C metrics.
• Collaborate with P&C colleagues across SmartBear’s global offices, including Galway, Ireland; Bath, UK; Wrocław, Poland; and Bangalore, India, to align processes and deliver a consistent employee experience worldwide.

We Are Looking for You If You Have

• 3–5+ years of experience in an HR Coordinator, HR Generalist, People Operations, or similar People & Culture role, with proven experience supporting a global or distributed workforce and a strong focus on employee-facing responsibilities.
• A strong understanding of HR compliance principles, benefits administration, leaves of absence, and employee relations fundamentals, with the ability to research and apply local employment requirements in partnership with internal and external experts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust with employees, managers, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
• A self-starter mindset, with the confidence to identify gaps, propose improvements, and independently drive projects forward across a global, distributed team.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including advanced Excel capability and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems such as BambooHR and ADP is preferred.
• Comfort working as part of a global P&C team, with occasional flexibility to overlap with colleagues across Europe and India.
• An AI-savvy mindset, with genuine curiosity about how AI and emerging technology can streamline P&C operations, reporting, and the day-to-day employee experience.

Hybrid — Somerville, Massachusetts, US

This role is based out of SmartBear’s Somerville headquarters and requires candidates to be local to, and within commutable distance of, Somerville. As part of a global People & Culture team, occasional flexibility to overlap with colleagues across Europe and India will be required.
