As an Accountant on the Cyprus Finance team, you’ll play a pivotal role in building the financial foundation of Coinbase’s Everything Exchange, helping connect European markets to global liquidity across a growing range of asset classes, including equities and derivatives. Working at the intersection of accounting, financial services regulation, and the evolving crypto economy, you’ll collaborate with international teams to support market expansion, build scalable finance processes, and help bring new products and capabilities to customers around the world.
You’ll own core accounting and reporting workflows for Coinbase Financial Services Europe Ltd., our MiFID-regulated entity, ensuring that a fast-moving, highly regulated business is accurately reflected in its books, controls, and regulatory submissions. This is an opportunity to go beyond maintaining the status quo. You’ll help shape the infrastructure, controls, and operating model that enable European clients to access global liquidity, and play a hands-on role in building the future of modern finance.
What You’ll Do
- Own core accounting workflows for CBFSE, including journal entries, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and close activities.
- Apply IFRS and sound accounting judgment to activity from Coinbase’s evolving crypto business.
- Develop proficiency in preparing and delivering recurring regulatory reports to CySEC, the Central Bank of Cyprus, and in accordance with applicable CIF requirements.
- Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Source-to-Pay, and Engineering to resolve accounting questions and improve reporting accuracy.
- Analyze variances and data anomalies, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, analysis, and timely responses.
- Improve the scalability of accounting operations through stronger controls, automation, data analysis, and responsible use of generative AI.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of accounting or finance experience in a Cyprus Investment Firm, Big Four firm, financial services, fintech, or other regulated environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACCA, ACA, or CPA preferred.
- Hands-on experience applying IFRS to operational accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience investigating discrepancies and improving processes.
