Senior Software Engineer, Billing & Monetization

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Senior Software Engineer, Billing & Monetization to join our Billing team in the Amsterdam office. Working in a high-growth scale-up, you’ll have the unique opportunity to drive innovation at scale while contributing to a company transforming the world of audit and finance. About the role: Every customer's path through DataSnipper, from first sign-up to first agent run to renewal, runs on the systems this team owns: how customers get in, what they are entitled to, and how AI usage turns into revenue. As we move from seats to usage and credits for our agentic products, these systems become as strategic as the product itself, and they have to be fast, accurate and trustworthy. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who cares about correctness as much as speed, and wants to see the commercial impact of their code. Why DataSnipper? What You Will Do: Metering & Billing Build real-time usage metering and credit consumption for our agentic products, accurate down to the individual agent run Design pricing and rating logic that supports seats, usage, credits and enterprise contract terms without a rewrite for every new plan Integrate with billing, payment and finance systems (e.g. Stripe , CRM and ERP), and keep them reconciled Licensing & Onboarding Build the entitlements service that decides what every user and tenant can do, enforced consistently across the Excel add-in and Alwin Own the onboarding flow end-to-end: sign-up, trials, provisioning, SSO and SCIM, and the first-run experience Instrument activation and conversion, and work with Product and Design to remove friction Engineering & Collaboration Build systems where correctness is non-negotiable : idempotent, auditable, observable and secure Own it end-to-end , from design to production in our Python stack on Azure through to the web and add-in front ends. Anticipate issues, and shape the team's technical direction without waiting to be asked Influence across functions : partner with Product, Finance, Sales and Customer Success, using data and empathy to turn pricing, packaging and licensing decisions into robust implementation Raise the bar through code reviews, mentorship and clear, balanced feedback, and ask for the same in return What You Bring: Must-Have 6+ years in software engineering, with strong, production-grade backend experience (ideally Python ) Experience building billing, metering, licensing or entitlement systems in production Solid experience building data-driven web APIs and distributed systems on a major cloud platform A strong grasp of financial correctness : idempotency, consistency, reconciliation and audit trails Strong fundamentals in software architecture , system design and data modelling Product mindset: you care about activation, conversion and revenue as much as uptime Sound judgment under ambiguity: you balance speed and accuracy, stay calm when plans change, and reprioritise without being told Proficient with AI-assisted engineering (we use Claude Code) Excellent communication; you can work directly with Finance and commercial teams to define what "correct" means Nice-to-Have Usage- or credit-based billing in production, including AI token metering and cost attribution Billing and payment platforms (e.g. Stripe ), CRM (e.g. Salesforce ) and ERP integrations Identity and provisioning: SSO , SCIM , multi-tenant account models Product-led growth : self-serve sign-up, trials, in-product upgrades Revenue recognition, invoicing and tax basics Event streaming and high-volume data pipelines Scale-up experience, ideally in SaaS, fintech or audit tech What We Offer: Be part of one of the fastest-growing, profitable unicorn scale-ups in the Netherlands with a global impact Equity (Stock Appreciation Rights) to share the company's success and growth Pension plan with a 6% contribution on top of your base salary 28 vacation days per year (full-time) to support your work-life balance Hybrid work model with at least 3 days onsite in our dynamic Amsterdam office Daily, freshly prepared lunches by our in-house chef to keep you energized NS business card for easy commuting to the office if applicable Access to continuous learning and development initiatives to grow your skills Engage with a vibrant international team spread across five global offices Company-wide events like DataSnipper GO, where global teams come together Access to a mental health and wellness platform supporting your wellbeing Recruitment Process: Recruitment Screen (30 minutes, online) Hiring Manager Interview (30 minutes, online) Live coding Interview (75 minutes, online) System design interview (60 minutes, on-site) Final Interview (30 minutes, online) At DataSnipper, we believe great ideas come from different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds.
