Practise the RF Test Infrastructure Engineer at Quantware interview free →About Us QuantWare is building the world’s most powerful quantum processors to solve humanity's greatest challenges. We do this with our unique VIO™ technology, the only QPU architecture that breaks the hardware barriers that have held quantum computing back, unlocking the path to MegaQubit quantum processors. With VIO, we are paving the way for the hyper-scale quantum computers that will change the world. And delivering on that vision demands people who don’t shy away from tackling the hardest challenges of our time. That’s where you come in! As an RF Test Infrastructure Engineer, you will be the bridge between our R&D innovations and proven, reliable, hyper-scaled hardware. This is a highly autonomous, hands-on lab role. You won’t just be running routine tests, you will be designing, building, and commissioning the room-temperature (RT) and cryogenic measurement infrastructure required to validate high-density QPUs. By implementing automated switching matrices and optimizing high-throughput signal lines, your work will directly eliminate the characterization bottleneck, allowing us to de-risk new technologies and scale toward increasingly complex quantum systems. What You’ll Be Doing Core Responsibilities Test & Validate Devices: Plan and execute RF and DC test campaigns for VIO™ devices and test vehicles, verifying performance against specifications. Build & Scale Measurement Infrastructure: Bring up, install, operate, and maintain room-temperature and cryogenic measurement setups, scaling them as R&D needs grow. Investigate & Resolve Anomalies: Diagnose test failures, trace root causes, and feed findings back into device and process improvements. Document & Track: Document setups and track process parameters across R&D cycles to build a reusable knowledge base. Collaboration & Ownership Work with a highly interdisciplinary R&D team to align test efforts with development priorities. Own validation end-to-end, from setup and sample integration through execution, analysis, reporting, and recommendations. Lead initiatives to improve test repeatability, measurement standards, and validation scalability. Your Profile Must-haves A Master’s degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in test, validation, or characterisation of deep-tech or low-volume hardware (industry experience is a plus). Hands-on experience with RF and/or DC measurement and test methods, and instrumentation such as VNAs and SMUs Direct experience working with high-density interconnects, switching matrices, and evaluating RF link budgets (insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk). Proficiency in Python and data analysis and visualisation for experiments, and for control and measurement electronics. Bonus Experience with cryogenic systems such as dilution refrigerators. Exposure to transport and microwave characterisation of superconducting circuits - such as critical temperature and current (Tc/Ic), residual resistance, and resonator quality factors (Qi/Qc) via VNA S-parameter measurements is a plus. Don't tick every box? Apply anyway! Research shows women often self-select out if they don't meet every requirement. Here's our take: nobody ticks every box. This is a description of our ideal candidate, not a filter. If most resonates and you're keen to learn the gaps, apply. We hire for trajectory, not perfection. What We Offer: At QuantWare, you’ll be part of a high-performing team of world-class experts in an ambitious, fast-moving environment. From day one, you’ll have the trust, tools, and support to do your best work. Here’s what you can expect: Competitive salary - A salary that reflects the impact and importance of the role (and of course 8% holiday allowance) Pension that’s built to last - A generous and future-proof pension plan that includes partner and dependent coverage. Flexibility built on trust - We focus on outcomes. Work flexibly, in a hybrid setup, with an open vacation policy that lets you manage your time Personal growth - We invest in your L&D, with a budget available to each team member, dependent on their individual ambitions, development needs, and performance A connected team - We make space to celebrate wins together, with team events, offsites, and spontaneous moments that bring us closer Diversity & Inclusion at QuantWare We’re an ambitious company, not only for our goals but also to become an even more diverse and inclusive team. We know great candidates don't always follow a straight path, and we value diverse experience, perspectives, and ways of thinking. We know this helps us make better decisions, drives more innovation, and strengthens our culture. As part of our recruitment process, candidates may be required to undergo pre-employment screening.
