Lead Full Stack Software Engineer - Internal Platforms (f/m/d)

Mission Brief

At Isar Aerospace, we are building the technology and infrastructure needed to make access to space more affordable, sustainable, and scalable.

We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to lead the development of modern internal software platforms and applications that support our rapidly growing organization.

In this role, you will design and build software solutions that connect people, processes, and data across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and business functions. You will work directly with stakeholders to understand challenges, identify opportunities for automation and digitalization, and turn ideas into intuitive, scalable applications.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of greenfield software development, influence architectural decisions, and help shape how we build internal technology at Isar Aerospace.

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, moves quickly from concept to working software, and combines strong engineering fundamentals with a pragmatic, product-oriented mindset.

Your role in our Space Mission...

Software Development & Architecture

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of modern internal applications and software platforms.
• Build scalable, maintainable full-stack solutions, including frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs, and databases.
• Take technical ownership of applications from initial concept and prototyping through production deployment and ongoing evolution.
• Define and implement software architecture, data models, integration patterns, and development standards.
• Ensure solutions meet appropriate requirements for performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Establish engineering best practices, including automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and documentation.

Product Development & Innovation

• Collaborate directly with stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and business teams to identify opportunities for software-driven improvements.
• Translate complex operational requirements into intuitive, user-friendly applications.
• Rapidly prototype new ideas, validate solutions with end users, and iterate based on feedback.
• Develop applications that streamline workflows, improve data accessibility, increase transparency, and reduce manual processes.
• Identify opportunities to replace fragmented tools, spreadsheets, and manual workflows with integrated software solutions.
• Balance rapid delivery of business value with sound long-term technical decisions.

Systems Integration & Data

• Design and implement integrations between internally developed applications, enterprise software, and engineering systems.
• Develop robust APIs and data services to enable interoperability across the organization.
• Work with relational databases, structured and unstructured data, and modern data management approaches.
• Collaborate with enterprise systems and data engineering teams to ensure applications integrate effectively into the broader technology landscape.

Technical Leadership & AI-Assisted Development

• Act as a technical leader, setting engineering direction and guiding architectural decisions.
• Champion modern software development approaches, including AI-assisted coding and agentic development tools.
• Use technologies such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or OpenAI Codex to accelerate prototyping, development, testing, and documentation where appropriate.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and development approaches, selecting tools based on practical business value.
• Contribute to the growth of internal software engineering capabilities, including mentoring future team members.
• Foster a culture of ownership, experimentation, continuous improvement, and high-quality engineering.

What you´ll need to thrive...

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on full-stack development.
• Strong proficiency in modern frontend development using TypeScript/JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Experience developing backend applications and APIs using Python, Node.js, Java, C#, or comparable technologies.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, including data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience designing and delivering production applications, including authentication, authorization, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and application integration patterns.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to independently take an idea from requirements through implementation and deployment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and a pragmatic approach to engineering.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders from different technical and business backgrounds.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Nice to have...

• Experience building internal tools, operational applications, or enterprise software platforms.
• Experience developing software for manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, logistics, or other complex operational environments.
• Familiarity with ERP, PLM, or other enterprise systems and their integration interfaces.
• Experience building responsive web applications and mobile-friendly interfaces.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, or real-time applications.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants and autonomous coding agents to improve software development productivity.
• Experience working in fast-growing companies or greenfield product development environments.
• Prior experience providing technical leadership, mentoring developers, or owning application architecture.

Beyond technical proficiency, we´re looking for someone who...

• Builds, not just designs. You are comfortable making architectural decisions but equally happy writing code, debugging issues, and delivering working software.
• Thinks like a product owner. You care about the end user's experience and the real-world problems your software solves.
• Thrives in ambiguity. You can turn loosely defined problems into actionable requirements and working solutions without extensive direction.
• Moves quickly and pragmatically. You understand when to prototype rapidly and when to invest in robust, scalable engineering.
• Takes ownership. You are comfortable being accountable for the applications you build, from initial concept through production operation.
• Embraces new tools. You actively explore modern development techniques, including AI-assisted software engineering, while maintaining high standards for code quality and security.
• Enjoys collaboration. You like working directly with the people who use your software and seeing the impact of your work.

If you are a hands-on engineer who enjoys building products, solving complex problems, and turning ideas into working software, we'd love to hear from you.
