Tooling Mechanical Design Engineer, Amazon Leo

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the Basic qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent - 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience - 1+ years of project management, including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status and prioritizing tasks experience - 3+ years of experience with CAD Design of complex systems including 3D modeling, drawings, and GD&T - 1+ years of experience of structural analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis Preferred: - Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume - Experience designing material handling equipment that interfaces with aircraft - Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing - Strong background in the design of mechanism, bolted and welded structures, assembly fixtures, alignment fixtures, test fixtures, rigging, and material handling - Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals - Design analysis experience with stiffness/strength, structural dynamics, weldments, and bolted structures. - Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in assembly tooling - Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking in complex situations - Experience with NX 3D modeling package and Simcenter 3D FEA simulation. - Formal training/certification in Operational Excellence Systems (Lean, 55, Six Sigma, etc.) a plus Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
