Sr. Systems Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS has recently launched the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in utility computing (UC). To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced senior Basic qualifications: - This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state - Systems engineering experience, working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems - Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language - Expertise in Linux and networking with proven ability to conduct advanced system diagnostics, implement preventive measures, and resolve complex technical issues that impact system performance, reliability, scalability, and high availability across distributed software environments. Demonstrated success in root cause analysis, performance optimization, and implementing robust monitoring solutions to ensure seamless operation of mission-critical systems. - Experience in leading the creation, revision, and/or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs) and driving operational best practices. Preferred: - Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives that align multiple teams and stakeholders across organizational boundaries - Ability to influence without direct authority - Experience mentoring and developing teams and engineers - Experience operating 24x7 high-availability, distributed software applications and performance tuning software applications and optimizing fleet utilization - Proficient with Infrastructure as Code, (such as CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar) - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Generative AI technologies, including automated deployment, configuration management, continuous integration workflows, prompt engineering, model deployment, and AI-powered automation tools Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
