Senior Space & Radiation Effects Engineer, Amazon Leo

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to Basic qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or experience working in electrical engineering field - 3+ years of experience in spaceflight avionics development, parts selection, and radiation test - 3+ years System design and component qualification experience with radiation environments and radiation tolerant hardware - Demonstrated understanding of the impact of SEE and TID effects on electronic systems. - Experience with one or more standard radiation environment modeling tools, including but not limited to IRENE, OMERE, SIRE2, SPENVIS, OLTARIS, CREME96, SAPPHIRE, ESP, or PSYCHIC. Preferred: - Master's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics - PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field - Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability - Experience with one or more radiation transport codes, including but not limited to NOVICE, FASTRAD, SHIELDOSE2, GEANT4, or MCNP. - Experience with NASA, Defense or Commercial Space programs. - Knowledge of any of the following: Python, LabView, AI-vibe coding. - Experience collaborating with reliability team with vehicle-level reliability models. - Knowledge of AWS tools such as S3 and DynamoDB. - Proficiency with hardware blueprints/schematics and circuit functions based on designs. - Proficiency with avionics hardware spanning integrated circuits, PCBA boards, sensors/transducers, functional troubleshooting, and defect detection Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
